BEREA, OHIO - Two Baldwin-Wallace College student-athletes, men's football senior linebacker Ryan Kish (Amherst/ Marion Steele) and women's soccer forward Bucky Gammiere (Mentor/Lake Catholic), are this week's (October 4-10) Ohio Athletic Conference players-of-the-week for their efforts during the Week of September 27-October 3.
Kish is the Football Defensive Player of the Week by virtue of his efforts in a 39-9 victory against Marietta College on Saturday (Oct. 2) that helped the Yellow Jackets improve to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the OAC. He had a game-high-tying 12 tackles, including 2.5 quarterback sacks for minus 14 yards and thre total tackles for minus 16 yards. Kish also forced a Pioneer quarterback to hurry a pass that was intercepted and returned for a touchdown.
This season, Kish tops B-W in tackles with 35, QB sacks with 3.5 and tackles for loss with 5.5. He also returned a fumble 23 yards for a touchdown in B-W's 35-20 win versus Heidelberg University on September 18.
This Saturday, Oct. 9, Kish and the Yellow Jackets host OAC-rival Otterbein University on Homecoming in The George Finnie Stadium in Berea at 2:00 p.m.
Gammiere is the OAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week for her efforts in ties against St. Vincent (Pa.) College, 1-1, on Sept. 28 and in a 2-2 tie at Marietta on Oct. 2. In the two contests, she scored the game-tying goal in each match.
For the season, Gammiere tops the Yellow Jackets in scoring with 14 points on a team-leading seven goals.
This week, Gammiere and the B-W women, 5-5-2 overall and 0-0-1 in the OAC, host rival Capital University at Finnie Stadium on Wednesday (Oct. 6) at 7:00 p.m. and then play nationally-ranked Otterbein in Westerville on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the first game of a women's and men's doubleheader.
