Women's Soccer Team Wins at Oberlin, 2-0, for Second Straight Victory

BEREA, OHIO - Senior midfielder Linsey Clapacs (Willoughby Hills/ South) and freshman midfielder Heather Keller (Parma/ Senior) each scored first half goals as the Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team defeated host Oberlin, 2-0, today (Tuesday, September 7, 2010).  The win was B-W's second straight.

With the victory, the Yellow Jackets are now 2-2 overall and next play this Friday (Sept. 10) when they travel to Fredonia, N.Y. to play host SUNY-Fredonia at 5:00 p.m. in the SUNY-Fredonia Classic.  B-W also plays the University of Rochester (N.Y.) on Saturday (Sept. 11) at 2:30 p.m.


The Yellow Jackets opened the scoring at the 12:40 mark of the first half when Clapacs scored her first goal of the season for a 1-0 lead off of an assist from sophomore defender Margo Laseak (Mentor). Keller then gave the Yellow Jackets a two-goal advantage at the 39:00 markwith an unassisted goal from 30 yards out that a heavy wind blew into the back left corner of the net.  


The Yellow Jackets outshot the Yeowomen, 28-7, placing 13 shots on goal. B-W also won the corner kick battle, 4-0.


In net, B-W junior Katie Finley (Vermilion) played all 90 minutes, made four saves and earned her first shutout of the year.  


Following its match against the University of Rochester (N.Y.) on Sept. 11, B-W travels to Hiram, Ohio to play traditional rival Hiram College on Wednesday Sept. 15 at 7:00 p.m.
