Women's Soccer Team Ties St. Vincent (Pa.), 1-1

BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie in overtime versus St. Vincent (Pa.) College today (Tuesday, September 28, 2010) in a non-league match in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.  

With the tie, B-W is now 5-5-1 overall, and next plays on Saturday, October 2 when it travels to Marietta to open Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play versus Marietta College at 3:30 p.m. St. Vincent is now 1-5-2 overall.

The Bearcats opened the scoring at the 7:46 mark when Catherine Czapski scored unassisted. The game remained 1-0 at the intermission. The Yellow Jackets tied the scoring at the 62:09 mark of the second half when freshman forward Bucky Gammiere (Mentor/Lake Catholic) scored her team leading sixth goal of the season on a break away pass from freshman midfielder Rachel Gokey (Seville/Cloverleaf).  The game was called due to darkness after the first overtime.

B-W outshot St. Vincent, 29-6, won the corner kick battle, 7-1 and forced the Bearcat goaltender into making 15 saves.

In net, B-W senior Caitlin Sutter (Toledo/ Sylvania Southview), making her second career start, played all 100 minutes and made one save.
