BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team tied Ohio Athletic Conference foe Wilmington College, 1-1, in double overtime tonight (Saturday, October 23, 2010) in the first game of a men's and women's doubleheader in Wilmington, Ohio. The men's game was slated to start at 7:00 p.m. The tie maked the second straight double overtime tie for the Yellow Jackets.
With the tie, B-W is now 6-8-4 overall and 1-3-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference while Wilmington now moves to 7-6-3 overall and 3-2-2 in the OAC.
In the first half both teams battled to a scoreless tie.
In the second half, the Yellow Jackets netted the first goal of the contest when sophomore defender Lindsey Cooper (Westerville/New Albany) scored her fourth goal of the season as she put one past the keeper in the upper left 90 at the 50:13 mark. The Quakers evened up the contest, 1-1, when Jennifer Packer hit a low liner off the assist from Britney Beck at 80:03.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net for the remainder of the match.
Overall, Wilmington outshot B-W, 22-12, and also outcornered the Yellow Jackets, 7-3.
In goal, senior Caitlin Sutter (Toledo/Sylvania Southview) faced 22 Wilmington shots and made four saves.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action next Tuesday, Oct. 26 when they host OAC and cross-town rival John Carrol University at 7:00 p.m. on Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium. B-W then finishes its regular season when they host Muskingum University on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 4:30 p.m.
The Oct. 30 doubleheader between B-W and OAC rival Muskingum University will be taped and then shown on a delay basis by regional cable network SportsTime Ohio (www.sportstimeohio.com). The women's game begins at 4:30 p.m. and men play at 7:00 p.m. The women's game will be shown on October 30 at 9:00 p.m. and again on Monday, November 1 at 5:00 a.m. The men's game will be aired on Sunday, Oct. 31 at 3:30 p.m. and on Monday, Nov. 1 at 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon.
