BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team recorded their third tie of the season as the Yellow Jackets and Ohio Athletic Conference foe The University of Mount Union played to a 2-2 draw tonight (Wednesday, October 20, 2010) at Mount Union Stadium in Alliance.
With its tie, B-W is now 6-8-3 overall and 1-3-2 in the OAC. With the tie, Mount Union is now 3-9-4 overall and 1-4-1 in the OAC.
In the first half, the Yellow Jackets scored the lone goal when sophomore midfielder Lindsey Mikula (Rocky River) tallied her fourth goal of the season off an assist from junior defender Lindsey Cooper (Westerville/ New Albany) to put it past Mount Union goaltender Taryn Vespoint at the 28:44 mark.
In the second half, Mount Union added a goal from Kylee Kolesar to even the score at 1-1 at 51:57. Then B-W took the lead at 61:20 when freshman midfielder Heather Keller (Parma/ Senior) buried a shot off an assist from sophomore forward Bridgette Petrash (Parma /Normandy) to put the Yellow Jackets up 2-1. The Purple Raiders equalized on another goal by Kolesar, her second of the night, via an assist from Katie Etling at 80:37 to send the game in overtime.
In both overtimes, neither team was able to score.
The Yellow Jackets outshot Mount Union 20-7, and outcornered them, 7-3.
The Yellow Jackets will next play on Saturday, October 23 in a men's and women's doubleheader against Wilmington College at Charlie Gilhart Field in Wilmington, Ohio. The women's match is slated to start at 4:30 p.m. with the men's match to follow at 7:00 p.m.
