Four Baldwin-Wallace College Women's Soccer Players Named Academic All-OAC

BEREA, OHIO -- Four Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer student-athletes were named to the 2009 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference squad announced today (Thursday, November 19). Combined with the three selections on the men's team, B-W and Ohio Northern University had the most Academic All-OAC picks with seven each.

Senior defender Stephanie Geiger (Berea)senior defender Tyler Fridley (Niles/ McKinley)junior midfielder Ellie Reinbrecht (Sylvania/ Toledo St. Ursula) and junior midfielder Liz Rice (Wooster/ Triway) were all named Academic All-OAC. All four women were repeat selections from last year's Academic All-OAC team.

Geiger, a four-year starter, carries a 3.64 grade point average in criminal justice and chemistry. She also was two-year captain and earned first-team All-OAC honors for the third consecutive season. She led the team with 11 points on five goals and an assist. She also helped lead the defense to four shutouts and a 1.49 goals-against-average. Geiger, also a 2008 NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region selection, earned second-team ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-District IV honors for the second consecutive year.

Fridley, also a team captain, is a communications and public relations major who carries a 3.64 grade point average. She earned second-team All-OAC honors as she started all 20 games and was a key component on the Yellow Jacket defense. Fridley also earned second-team ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-District IV honors this season.

Rice, who maintains a 3.75 grade average in middle childhood education, played in all 20 games this season, including 10 starts and scored one goal on the season, which came against Mount Union on October 3. The three-year letter winner also was a 2008 ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-District IV selection.

Reinbrecht, who carries a 3.82 grade average in film studies, played in 17 games this season and made 13 starts. She scored her first career goal against Muskingum University this season on Oct. 17 and also added an assist against Wilmington College.

"Our four women are outstanding students in the clasroom and excellent soccer players on the field," said eighth-year Head Coach Reid Ayers. "Each young woman has her priorities in the right place and displayed leadership qualities on her team. We are pleased for each of them."
