BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team, 6-8-2 overall and 2-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, defeated Muskingum University, 3-0, this evening (Saturday, October 17, 2009) on Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium. The game will air via tape delay on SportsTime Ohio tomorrow at 5:00 p.m.
With the win, B-W improves to 6-8-2 overall and 2-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference and returns to action this Wednesday, October 21 at Capital University at 4:00 p.m. Muskingum falls to 4-11 overall and 0-5 in the OAC.
The Yellow Jackets opened the scoring in the 11th minute when freshman Angelica Meggitt (Amherst/ Steele) scored her first career goal off a pass from freshman Angie Wigton (Worthington/ Worthington Christian).
B-W added to the lead with two late goals coming at 80:33 from sophomore Leanne Kasburg (Cuyahoga Falls) via an assist from senior Stephanie Geiger (Berea) and at 82:04 from sophomore Elizabeth Reinbrecht (Sylvania/ Toledo St. Ursula), also the first of her career.
In goal, sophomore Meagan McLaughlin (Warren/ Cardinal Mooney) needed only one save to earn her second shutout of the season.
The Yellow Jackets outshot Muskingum 27-2 and held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The game will be shown on SportsTime Ohio as part of the OAC's first ever television tripleheader. The B-W versus Muskingum football game from earlier this afternoon airs tonight and both the women's and men's soccer games from this evening will air tomorrow (Sunday, Oct. 18). The women's match airs at 5:00 p.m. and will follow the men's game which airs at 3:00 p.m.
