Women's Soccer Team Falls 1-0 at Heidelberg

BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team lost 1-0 this evening (Wednesday, October 7, 2009) versus Ohio Athletic Conference rival Heidelberg University at Mayer Field in Tiffin.

With the loss, B-W falls to 5-6-2 overall and 1-1 in the OAC and returns to action this Saturday, October 10 versus Otterbein College at 7:00 p.m. on Tressel Field in Berea. 'The Berg' improves to 5-6-1 and 2-0 in the OAC.

The Yellow Jackets outshot the Student Princes, 3-1, in the first period but neither team was able to find the back of net. The game remained scoreless until the 81:50 mark in the second half when Heidelberg's Carolyn Gross scored the game-winner unassisted from high outside the box.

In goal, sophomore Meagan McLaughlin (Warren/ Cardinal Mooney) faced seven shots and made two saves. Heidelberg's Molly Shriber played the second half and recorded five saves en route to picking up the win.

Overall, B-W outshot Heidelberg, 11-7, while the Student Princes held a 6-5 edge in corner kicks.
