Women's Soccer Team Ties Grove City (Pa.), 1-1, in Grove City

BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team tied host Grove City (Pa.) College, 1-1 in double overtime, today (Saturday, September 19, 2009) in Grove City, Pennsylvania in the second game of a men's and women's doubleheader.

With its tie, B-W is now 3-3-2 overall and next plays on Tuesday, Sept. 22 when the Yellow Jackets travel to University Circle to play Cleveland cross-town rival Case Western Reserve University at 5:00 p.m. GCC is now 1-2-3 overall.

The opening goal of the match was scored by Grove City's Michelle Peck off an assist from Elise Bender only 5:11 into the contest.  Grove City held onto the shutout until the 86:31 mark when freshman forward Angie Wigton (Worthington/Christian) scored the equalizer for her first career goal as a Yellow Jacket. Both teams played two scorless overtimes for the tie.

Overall, the Wolverines outshot the Yellow Jackets, 20-17, and GCC outcornered B-W, 4-2.

In goal for B-W, sophomore Meagan McLaughlin (Warren/Cardinal Mooney) played all 110 minutes and made eight saves for the Yellow Jackets. 

Following its game against CWRU, B-W plays next Saturday, Sept. 26 at Westminster (Pa.) College when the men play the first game of a doubleheader and the B-W women play the nightcap at 4:00 p.m.
