Women's Soccer Team Defeats Adrian (Mich.), 1-0, in Season-Opener in Berea

BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team opened the 2009 season by defeating Adrian (Mich.) College, 1-0, on Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium this evening (Tuesday, September 1, 2009) in the first game of a women's and men's doubleheader.

Sophomore forward Noelle Fox (Canfield) scored the lone goal of the game following a corner kick with 5:20 remaining.

Overall, B-W outshot the Bulldogs, 9-7, but was out-cornered, 5-3.

In goal, sophomores Becky Miner (Berea) and Megan McLaughlin (Warren/ Cardinal Mooney) each saw a half of action. Miner started and made one save while McLaughlin played the second half to earn the win.  

The Yellow Jackets return to action this Saturday, Sept. 5 when they travel to Erie, Pennsylvania to play at the two-day Penn State Behrend College Tournament. B-W plays SUNY-Geneseo (N.Y.) the first round at 12:00 noon. On Sunday, Sept. 6, the consolation game is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. and the championship match at 12:00 noon.

The next home B-W women's soccer game is on Wednesday, Sept. 9 when the Yellow Jackets host traditional rival Oberlin College at 7:00 p.m.
