Camarati Garners Fourth OAC Softball Pitcher of Week Accolade

AUSTINTOWN, OHIO – For the fourth time this season, Baldwin Wallace University softball freshman right hander Nikki Camarati (Brunswick/Holy Name) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week.

Camarati led BW to two victories last week as the Yellow Jackets swept an OAC doubleheader over Heidelberg University last Tuesday. 

She earns her fourth weekly accolade as she did not allow a run in both victories against the Student Princes.   In game one, Camarati pitched three scoreless and hitless innings and did not allow a Heidelberg batter to reach base with seven strikeouts.    In game two, she recorded her 18th win of the season, her 14th complete game and her sixth shutout as she did not allow a run on three hits with 10 strikeouts and one walk.

Camarati leads the OAC and is second in NCAA Division III with 18 wins.   She leads the league and is fifth in the nation in strikeouts with 153.  Camarati is the conference leader and is tied for fifth in the Division III in shutouts with six.  She also is the league leader with a 1.23 earned run average (ERA).

BW is back in action on Monday, April 22 when it hosts Capital University in a rescheduled OAC and Seniors' Day doubleheader at 3 p.m.   The Yellow Jackets close out the regular season on Saturday, April 27 when it travels to Westerville for an OAC doubleheader against Otterbein University at 1 p.m.

The OAC Tournament will be contested on Friday-Sunday, May 3-5 on the campus of the OAC regular season champion.
