TUCSON, Ariz. – The Baldwin Wallace University softball team swept its second doubleheader of the annual Tucson Invitational Games as it stormed past Brevard (N.C.) College at Lincoln Park.

BW (5-1), who is now 4-0 versus Division III opponents, took the opener over the Tornadoes by a score of 3-1.  The Yellow Jackets cruised to a 7-1 victory in the second game.

In game one, BW scored three runs on seven hits as it scored one run in the first and second innings and tacked on the insurance run in the top of the seventh inning.  Brevard, who had nine hits, was held scoreless for four innings and scored its lone run in the fifth inning.

The Yellow Jacket offensive attack was led by freshman first baseman Mackenzie Milligan (Cleveland/St. Joseph Academy) as she went 2-for-3.  Freshman designated played Ashley Matousek (Sagamore Hills/Akron Archbishop Hoban) and senior catcher Sami Minor (North Royalton) each went 1-for-4 with a run batted-in (RBI). Three other hitters had a base knock.

In the circle, sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference left hander Abby Cosart (Lima/Bath) pitched her first complete game of the season and picked up her third win of the season (3-0).  Cosart allowed one run on nine hits with a career-high six strikeouts and just one walk.

In game two, BW belted out 10 hits and scored all seven runs in the first three innings as it plated three in the first, two in the second and third innings.  The Tornadoes were limited to four hits and they scored their lone run in the top of the sixth inning.

The Yellow Jacket offense was led by senior All-OAC shortstop Erica English (North Olmsted), Minor and junior center fielder Macy Leach (Westerville/Central) as the upperclassmen tallied six of the 10 BW base knocks.  English went 2-for-4 with two doubles, three of the Yellow Jacket six RBIs and one run scored. Minor went 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and two runs scored.  Leach was 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored. Junior Academic All-OAC second baseman Alex Kozich (Avon) had a base hit with a double and an RBI

In the circle, Matousek picked up her first collegiate win in her collegiate debut.  She allowed one run on four hits with four strikeouts and four walks.  Freshman righty Nikki Camarati (Brunswick/Holy Name) closed out the game with a scoreless and hitless seventh inning with one strikeout.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Thursday, March 6 when they continue play at the Tucson Invitational Games with single contests against NAIA seventh nationally-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University and NCAA Division III North Central (Minn.), who BW swept earlier this week, at 5:30 and 8 p.m., respectively.
