Softball Drops One and Suspends Another on Day Two of OAC Tournament

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The third-seeded Baldwin Wallace University softball team dropped one game and had its second Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament game suspended due to rain.  The tournament is being hosted by Muskingum University on the Donna Newberry Field.

BW (33-9), who had its second game on Friday suspended until this morning, fell to Otterbein (23-15) by a final score of 4-0.   The Yellow Jackets and Ohio Northern (22-18) reached the fourth inning before rain suspended the game and the second day of action.

In the game against Otterbein, BW was held scoreless for the fourth time of the season on six hits.   The Cardinals scored four runs on five hits as they pushed one run across the plate in the third, two in the fourth and one in the sixth.

The Yellow Jacket offense was led by sophomore first baseman Mackenzie Milligan (Cleveland/St. Joseph Academy) as she went 2-for-3.  Four other BW hitters had a base knock highlighted by a double from freshman designated player/pitcher Ashley Matousek (Sagamore Hills/Akron Archbishop Hoban).

In the circle, freshman right hander Nikki Camarati (Brunswick/Holy Name) suffered the loss and fell to 20-5 as she allowed four runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and five walks in six innings pitched.   Matousek pitched the final inning and did not allow a hit with one strikeout.

BW and Ohio Northern will resume its game on Sunday, May 5 at 11 a.m.  The winner of the game will advance to championship game against Otterbein at 12:30 p.m.
