Softball Sweeps Second Doubleheader of Weekend with Two Victories over Wooster

WOOSTER, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University softball team swept The College of Wooster to win its fifth game in six chances this week at Galpin Park. 

BW (16-2), who went 5-1 on the week and swept Wooster (8-6) for the first time since 2009, won the opener by a score of 2-1 and rallied from two runs down to win the second game by a final score of 5-4.

In game one, the Yellow Jackets scored two runs on five hits as they plated one run in the sixth and seventh inning.  The Fighting Scots scored one run on two hits as they pushed their lone across the plate in the sixth.

The BW offense was led by junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference second baseman Alex Kozich (Avon) as she went 2-for-3 with the game-winning double in the seventh inning and a run batted-in (RBI).  Three other Yellow Jacket hitters had a base knock. 

In the circle, freshman right hander Nikki Camarati (Brunswick/Holy Name) won her ninth game of the season as she allowed one unearned run with nine strikeouts and seven walks. 

In game two, BW scored five runs on six hits as it plated one run in the second, three in the fifth, one in the sixth on the game-winning RBI double from senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Alexis Boledovic (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark).  Wooster scored four runs on 10 hits as it pushed one run across the plate in the first, one in the second, one in the fourth and one in the fifth.

The Yellow Jacket offense was led by six hitters that all recorded one hit.   Boledovic had the lone extra base with her game-winning RBI double.   Junior center fielder Macy Leach (Westerville/Central) and senior leftfielder Abbie Thompson (Madison) provided the other RBIs.

In the circle, sophomore All-OAC left hander Abby Cosart (Lima/Bath) pitched the first four innings to win her fifth game of the season (5-1) as she allowed four runs on eight hits with two strikeouts and two walks.   Freshman righty Ashley Matousek (Sagamore Hills/Akron Archbishop Hoban) pitched the final two innings for her first collegiate save as she did not allow a run or hit with one walk and one strikeout. 

BW returns home on Tuesday, March 26 when it hosts a non-conference doubleheader against Thiel (Pa.) College at 3:30 p.m.  The Yellow Jackets return to OAC action on Saturday, March 30 when it hosts the University of Mount Union at 1 p.m.
