Camarati Highlights Softball All-OAC Selections

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Freshman pitcher Nikki Camarati (Brunswick/Holy Name) highlights the Baldwin Wallace University softball All-Ohio Athletic Conference selections as she was named the OAC Pitcher of the Year.

Both Camarati and senior right fielder Alexis Boledovic (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark) landed on the first team while junior second baseman Alex Kozich (Avon), freshman designated player Ashley Matousek (Sagamore Hills/Archbishop Hoban) and junior center fielder Macy Leach (Westerville/Central) were each tabbed as an honorable mention selection.

In her first collegiate season, Camarati led the OAC and was among the national leaders in wins (20), strikeouts (197) and earned run average (1.32), ranking fifth, 10th and 17th in NCAA Division III, respectively. She compiled a 20-5 overall record in 154.1 innings pitched, tossing 17 complete games, six shutouts and one no-hitter while also recording two saves. For a single season, Camarati owns the school record in wins and is second in strikeouts, fourth in innings pitched, fifth in complete games and fifth in ERA. Seven different times, the freshman punched out 10 or more batters in a game.

Boledovic earns her fourth straight All-OAC selection and her second nod to the first team. The senior put together a stellar final season in the Brown and Gold, hitting for a career-best .454 with a single-season school record 69 hits to go along with 16 doubles, five triples, three home runs, 39 runs batted-in (RBIs), 44 runs scored and 11 stolen bases. She finished the regular season second in the OAC in batting average and third in RBIs. For her career, Boledovic had a .409 batting average, 195 hits, 38 doubles, nine triples, three home runs, 81 RBIs, 109 runs scored, 36 walks and 35 stolen bases. She currently ranks fourth all-time in hits, sixth in doubles, tied for fifth in runs scored, tied for second in triples, tied for ninth in RBIs and sixth in stolen bases. 

Kozich garners her first career All-OAC accolade after putting together a career season. On the year, she batted a career-high .384 with a career-best 48 hits, 11 doubles, four triples, three home runs, 34 RBIs and 28 runs scored. In her career, Kozich owns a .309 batting average with 107 hits, 21 doubles, six triples, three home runs, 54 RBIs, 66 runs scored, 17 walks and 22 stolen bases. 

Matousek provided a pop of offense in her freshman campaign, leading to her first career All-OAC selection. She batted .354 on the season and banged out 45 hits, 12 doubles, one triple, a team-leading five home runs, 36 RBIs and 18 runs scored. Matousek was second on the squad in RBIs and tied for third in hits. She also made six appearances in the circle for a total of 10.2 innings, notching a 1-0 record with one save and a 1.97 ERA with seven strikeouts.

Leach also earns her first career All-OAC honor with a career junior campaign. She batted .388 on the season with 45 hits, seven doubles, two triples, one home run, 24 RBIs, 29 runs scored, 18 walks and 15 stolen bases. Leach produced the second-highest batting average on the team, tied for third in hits and second in walks. Meanwhile, her 15 stolen bases finished second in the conference. For her career, Leach has a .335 batting average with 80 hits, 11 doubles, four triples, one home run, 43 RBIs, 51 runs scored, 28 walks and 20 stolen bases. 

BW finished the 2019 season with a school-record 33 wins and a 13-5 mark in conference, advancing to the OAC Tournament for the first time since the 2011 season.
