BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team ties cross-town rival John Carroll University by a final score of 0-0 tonight in double overtime (Wednesday, October 17, 2012) in an Ohio Athletic Conference match on the Tressel Field.
With the tie, the Yellow Jackets move to 6-5-2 overall and 1-3-1 in the OAC. With the tie, the Blue Streaks move to 8-5-2 overall and 4-0-2 in the OAC.
In the first half, both teams battled to a scoreless tie. The Blue Streaks outshot BW 12-5 in the opening period.
In the second half, both teams were still in a scoreless tie. John Carroll outshot The Yellow Jackets 12-5 in the second period.
In net for the Yellow Jackets, senior goalkeeper Ryan Hulings (Centerville) faced 27 Blue Streak shots, including seven on-goal, allowed zero goals and made seven saves in 110:00 minutes of action. John Carroll goaltender Carl Contrascier faced 11 BW shots, including five on-goal, allowed zero goals and made five saves in 110:00 minutes of action.
In the match, the Blue Streaks outshot the Yellow Jackets 27-11, and won the corner kick battle, 12-2.
The Yellow Jackets close out the home portion of their regular season schedule on Saturday, October 20 when they play host to Capital University in the second game of a women's and men's OAC and Seniors' and Parents' Night doubleheader at 7:00 p.m.
