PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team has cancelled tonight's match versus Hobart (N.Y.) College at the season-opening Carnegie-Mellon University Invitational. The Yellow Jackets will not make this game up due to it being a tournament match.
BW is 0-1 overall and is coming off a school-record setting season when it compiled a record 16 victories, a 16-6 overall mark and advanced to the NCAA Division III national tournament for the first time in school history. The Yellow Jackets are seeking a school-record 11th straight winning season under the direction of veteran Head Coach Reid Ayers. With this cancelation, Hobart remains 0-1 overall as well.
BW next plays on Tuesday, September 4 when it travels to Oberlin to face traditional rival Oberlin College in a nonleague men's and women's doubleheader at 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively. Next weekend, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 7-8, the BW men play Carnegie-Mellon (Friday at 5:00 p.m.) and Defiance College (12:30 p.m.) at the Ohio Northern University Invitational Tournament. The first home match is Saturday, Sept. 15 versus Grove City (Pa.) College at 1:00 p.m.
On Tuesday, October 9, the Yellow Jacket men's and women's soccer teams will host Ohio Athletic Conference foe Heidelberg University in a doubleheader that will be televised by SportsTime Ohio (STO). This is the fifth straight year that BW has televised a soccer doubleheader and will put a 7-1 combined record on the line, including a 4-0 mark by the women.
