UNIVERSITY CIRCLE, OHIO -- Senior CAPITAL
ONE Academic All-American forward Pat
Brennan (Akron/ Walsh Jesuit) scored a pair of
goals tonight as the Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team
defeated host Case Western Reserve University, 3-1, at Case
Field.
With this victory, BW improves to 4-1 overall and has won its past
four games. With this loss Case drops to 2-3 overal.
In the first half, Brennan gave the
Yellow Jackets a 1-0 lead with his third goal of the season at the
15:47 mark with the assist from his brother Michael
Brennan (Akron/ Walsh Jesuit). The Spartans
answered back at the 17:54 mark when Patrick O'Day scored on a
penalty kick to tie the game at 1-1.
In the second half, Brennan gave BW a
2-1 lead with his second goal of the match off of a penalty kick at
the 55:07 mark. Sophomore midfielder Ben
Deighton (Richfield/ Revere) pushed the Yellow
Jacket lead to 3-1 when he scored his third goal of the season with
an assist from sophomore defender Vince
Milner (Mayfield) at the 70:15 mark.
Senior goalkeeper Tyler
Beaton (Bemus Point, N.Y./ Maple Grove) faced
seven CWRU shots, including two that were on-goal, allowed one goal
and recorded one
save. Beaton improves to 2-1 this
season. Case netminder Ryan Koepka faced 12 BW shots, including six
on-goal, allowed three goals and made three saves
In the game, the Yellow Jackets outshot the Spartans, 12-7, and
the teams tied the corner kick battle, 6-6.
BW opens its 2012 home schedule this Saturday, Sept. 15 against
Grove City College of Pennsylvania at 1:00 p.m. in the first game
of a men's and women's doubleheader. The women kickoff after the
men at 3:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, October 9, the Yellow Jacket men's and women's soccer
teams will host Ohio Athletic Conference foe Heidelberg University
in a doubleheader that will be televised by SportsTime Ohio
(STO). This is the fifth straight year that BW has televised
a soccer doubleheader and will put a 7-1 combined record on the
line, including a 4-0 mark by the women.
