Baseball Falls to Moravian in Second Game of Snowbird Classic

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.  – In the second game of the Snowbird Classic, the Baldwin Wallace University baseball team fell, 4-2 to Moravian (Pa.) College in extra innings on the North Charlotte Regional Park.

BW (3-3) scored two runs off four hits with one coming in the fifth and one in the tenth.

The Yellow Jackets were led by junior infielder Jacob Bonner (Akron/Archbishop Hoban), sophomore infielder Alex Ludwick (Brunswick/Padua Franciscan), senior third baseman Kyle Pennington (Wadworth) and senior catcher Asa Adams (Sarver, Pa./Knoch) as each recorded a hit. Pennington knocked home junior American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-Mideast Region and All-OAC outfielder Dudley Taw (Sheffield Lake/Brookside) in the tenth off a single to left to tie the game up at two. Taw recorded his RBI in the fifth.

Making his first appearance in over a year was junior pitcher Racco DiLauro (Akron/Springfield) as he went two innings, allowed one hit and tallied three strikeouts. Freshman pitcher Garrett Miller (McMurray) came in relief in the third and pitched five solid innings and permitted one run off seven hits with five strikeouts. Junior left-handed-pitcher Spencer Burg (New Albany) was handed his second loss of the season after 3.1 innings and allowed three runs (one earned) off six hits and marked three strikeouts. Junior pitcher Max Adams (Massillon/Washington) finished off the final two outs and gave up a walk.

The Yellow Jackets are back between the white lines tomorrow against No. 14 Misericordia University at 3 p.m.
