Baseball Falls to Case Western Reserve University

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team dropped a non-conference affair with Case Western Reserve University, 7-2 at Nobby's Ballpark.

BW (12-8) scored two runs off four hits as their runs came in the eighth off a fielding error by the Case Western shortstop. Case Western (13-8) plated seven runs off 11 hits.

The Yellow Jacket offense was led by freshman outfielder Drew Wilson (Sagamore Hills/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) who scored a run and tallied a hit as well. Senior second baseman Kyle Pennington (Wadsworth), senior two-time Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference right fielder Reese Albright (Parma/North Royalton), and sophomore infielder Tony LoParo (Avon/Elyria Catholic) each recorded a hit while senior first baseman Philip Wells (Buffalo, N.Y./Saint Joseph's Collegiate) scored a run.

Junior right handed-pitcher Racco DiLauro (Akron/Springfield) made his second start on the season and went two innings, allowing three runs off four hits and struck out one and received his first loss. Sophomore righty Jeremy McClure (Mentor) entered in the third and dealt one inning and allowed three runs off three hits. Freshman pitcher Garret McLeod (Medina) was next in line and pitched three innings where he allowed one run off three hits and struck out three. Wilson also saw time on the mound and pitched one innings of no-run baseball and punched out one. Senior right handed-pitcher Griffin Watterson (Bay Village/Bay) threw the eighth and allowed one hit with zero runs and struck out a career-tying three batters.

BW will end their road trip on Saturday, April 6 with an OAC doubleheader against Wilmington College. Game one is at 1 p.m and game two is at 4 p.m. The Yellow Jackets will return to Fisher Field for another conference doubleheader with Ohio Northern University on Tuesday, April 9. Game one is scheduled for 1 p.m and game two at 4 p.m.
