Baseball Upsets No.14 Misericordia in First Game of Snowbird Classic

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team defeated the No. 14 Nationally ranked Misericordia (Pa.) University by an 8-7 final to open the Snowbird Classic, at the North Charlotte Regional Park.

BW (3-2) scored eight runs off 11 hits as it plated two runs in the second, five in the fourth off senior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference outfielder Reese Albright (Parma/North Royalton) two-run double, and one in the eighth.

The Yellow Jackets were led by junior American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-Mideast Region and All-OAC outfielder Dudley Taw (Sheffield Lake/Brookside), sophomore infielder Alex Ludwick (Brunswick/Padua Franciscan), and senior catcher Asa Adams (Sarver, Pa./Knoch) as each recorded two hits. Albright notched three RBI's and Adams had two while Ludwick and junior infielder Jacob Bonner (Akron/Archbishop Hoban) had one.

Junior pitcher Spencer Aukerman (Medina) got his first win of the season after dealing five innings and only allowing two runs (one unearned) off five hits and four strikeouts. Freshman right-handed-pitcher Drew Wilson (Sagamore Hills/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) entered for Aukerman and went one inning allowing just one unearned run off three hits and one strikeout. Junior Max Adams (Massillon/Washington) pitched the seventh and earned a strikeout. Junior left-handed-pitcher Spencer Berg (New Albany) was next in line as he pitched an inning and allowed one run off two hits and struck out one batter. Junior Academic All-OAC left hand pitcher Michael Hubert (Cincinnati/Oak Hills) closed out the ninth and allowed three runs off two hits and one strikeout.

BW returns to the diamond tomorrow to play Moravian (Pa.) College at 4 p.m.
