Women’s Soccer Drops Season Opener at Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE, Ohio—The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team was defeated by Ohio Wesleyan University, 3-2, in a non-conference game inside the Jay Martin soccer Complex this evening.

BW(0-1) was led by All-OAC Rachel Bender (Massillon / Jackson) and junior Alex Elliott (Blacklick / IMG Academy) scored the Yellow Jackets two goals.

Ohio Wesleyan (1-0) was led by, sophomore forward Megan Price who netted two goals.

After a scoreless first half, where the Yellow Jackets outshot the Battling Bishops nine to three, sophomore forward Megan Price scored two goals to give Ohio Wesleyan a 2-0 lead. The goals were scored at the 61:20 and 64:02 marks.

Bender cut the Battlting Bishops lead to 2-1 at the 70:30 mark. Ohio Wesleyan answered the BW goal 13 minutes later when junior forward Brooke Zinader beat the BW goalkeeper to make it 3-1. Elliott converted on a pass from sophomore defender Marissa Fabrizi (Brunswick) in the final minute, but the Yellow Jackets couldn't score the equalizer in time.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action when they travel to Erie, Pennsylvania on September 3 and 4 for the two-day Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament hosted by Penn State-Behrend. On day-one BW squares off against The College at Brockport inside the Junker Center at 2:30 p.m.
