Women’s Soccer Falls to No. 21 Carnegie Mellon (Pa.)

BEREA,Ohio—The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team was defeated by No. 21-nationally ranked Carnegie Mellon (Pa.)  University, 2-0, in a non-conference game on Tressel Field inside of George Finnie Stadium.

BW (5-2-1) was outshot 22-3 by Carnegie Mellon (4-2). The Tartans were led by freshman forward Sydney Webber as she recorded two assists.  

The Tartans scored the only goal in the first half when freshman defender Camille Williams scored off of a corner from Webber at the 36:48 mark. The Yellow Jackets best opportunity in the half came in the 12 minute when All-Ohio Athletic Conference forward Rachel Bender (Massillon/Jackson) fired a shot, but the Carnegie Mellon goalkeeper punched it away.

In the second half, freshman forward Vayda Farino beat the Yellow Jackets goalkeeper off a cross from Webber to close out the scoring in the 73rd minute.  

Freshman goalkeeper Sophia Weidner (Medina) made four saves and is now 2-1-1 this season.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, September 24 when they travel to Defiance to face Defiance College in the final game of a men's and women's doubleheader on Winsper-Knobel Memorial Field at 3:30 P.M.
