Bender Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

Complete CoSIDA 2016 All-District 7 Team

BEREA, Ohio –  Baldwin Wallace University and All-Ohio Athletic Conference sophomore  forward Rachel Bender (Massillon/Jackson) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) District 7 All-District Team. Bender now qualifies for the CoSIDA Division III Academic All-America ballot.

Bender, a communications disorders and psychology double major, carries a 3.87 grade point average and is a Dean's List student.

This season, Bender leads the OAC with 44 points and is second in the conference both in goals and assists with 18 and eight, respectively.  She was named the OAC Player of the Week on September 6 and the Herb Lauffler Memorial Tournament Most Valuable Player. Bender has also netted her first two career hat tricks in 2016 in wins against Marietta on Oct.1 and Heidelberg on Oct. 18.  

She was named and All-OAC first team selection as a freshman. In her career, she has tallied 29 goals and 11 assists for 69 points in her first two seasons at BW.

Bender and the Yellow Jackets close out the regular season on Saturday, October 29 when they host Capital University in an Ohio Athletic Conference game on Seniors' and Parents' Night on Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium at 7:30 p.m. The Seniors' and Parents' Night ceremony will take place at halftime.
