Women’s Soccer Scores Three Unanswered to Advance to Herb Lauffer Championship

ERIE, Pennsylvania—The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team scored three unanswered goals to defeat The College at Brockport, 3-1, on day one of the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament hosted by Penn State-Behrend.  

With the victory BW (1-1) will play the host Penn State-Behrend in the championship game tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. Brockport (0-1) will play The College of Wooster in the consolation game at 12 p.m.

The Yellow Jackets were led by All-Ohio Athletic Conference sophomore forward Rachel Bender (Massillon / Massillon Jackson) as she scored one goal and added two assists for a game-high four points.

Senior midfielder Stephanie Drago scored the Golden Eagles only goal of the game in the 3rd minute to give Brockport an early 1-0 lead. The Yellow Jackets answered the Golden Eagles goal when Bender fed junior midfielder Alex Elliott (Blacklick / IMG Academy) in the 19th and 23nd minutes to give the Yellow Jackets a 2-1 lead at halftime.

Bender scored the only goal in the second half at the 51:08 mark when she broke down the left side and beat the Brockport in the top left corner.
