Women’s Soccer Falls in Defensive Battle at Fredonia State (N.Y.)

FREDONIA, New York—The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team was defeated, 1-0, by Fredonia State (N.Y.) University on the first day of the Fredonia Blue Devil/Clarion Hotel Classic hosted by Fredonia inside University Stadium.

BW (3-2) outshot Fredonia (1-2) 21 to 14 in the game and was able to put 13 shots on net, but the Blue Devils sophomore goalkeeper Kendall Owczarzak made all 13 saves.

The Blue Devils scored the only goal of the game when senior midfielder Maggie Papia netted an unassisted goal at the 15:47 mark.

Freshman goalkeeper Emma Bruno (Bethel Park, Pa.) made a season-high seven saves for BW. 

On the final day of the tournament the Yellow Jackets will square off against Oswego State (N.Y.) University inside University Stadium at 1:30 p.m.
