ADA, OHIO – The Baldwin Wallace University men's indoor track and field team placed fourth at the annual Ohio Athletic Conference Split Squad Meet in the ONU Sports Center.
The BW men scored 75 points and placed fourth of five teams.
The Yellow Jacket men in field events were led by junior Brandon Eddy (Cuyahoga Heights) who won the pole vault with a vault of 14' 11.5" and placed seventh in the high jump with a leap of six-feet. In addition, sophomore Tyler Burdoff (Painesville/ Riverside) in the weight throw he threw a distance of 53' 10.5" to place second in the shot put and 49' 1.25" in the shot put to place third.
The BW men were led in the running events by senior Kevin Johnson (Maple Heights/ Cleveland St. Ignatius) who placed first in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.96 seconds and third in the 200 meters in 22.84 seconds and was a member of the triumphant 4x200-meter relay team. In addition, freshman Otis Conel (Ashtabula/Lakeside) placed third in the 400-meter dash in 52.38 seconds.
Joining Johnson on the 4x200 meter relayteam were junior Ben Beidleman (Washington, D.C./ St. Anselm's Abbey), senior Josiah Holt (Elyria/ Grafton Midview), and senior Shawn Cordes (Litchfield/ Medina Buckeye) as they placed first in 1:31.26. The distance medley relay squad of sophomores Mike Miller (Strongsville) and Tom Elton (Akron/ Early College) and juniors Aaron Long (Mishawaka, Ind./ Penn) and Dusan Vasic (Brecksville-Broadview Heights) placed third in 11:02.38.
The Yellow Jacket track and field team are back in action on Saturday, February 8 when they travel to Granville, Ohio to compete at the Denison University Invitational Meet Meet at 12:00 noon. The next home meet is the annual Mid-February Meet on February 14 on the Harrison Dillard Track at 5:00 p.m.
