BW Men Fifth at OAC Indoor Championships

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's indoor track and field team finished fifth at the 2014 Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet at the University of Mount Union, inside the Peterson Fieldhouse in the McPherson Academic & Athletic Complex.

The BW men scored 66 points to place fifth of 10 teams.

The top three performers in each event each All-OAC honors.

The men were led by junior heptathlete Brandon Eddy (Cuyahoga Heights) who won the high jump with a school-record leap of 6'10.25". On Friday, Eddy placed second in the pole vault with a vault of 15'4.25". He also was 10th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.82 seconds.

The 4x200-meter relay team of senior Shawn Cordes (Litchfield/Medina Buckeye), sophomore Ben Beidleman (Washington, D.C./ St. Anselm's Abbey), sophomore Mike Beidleman (Washington, D.C./ St. Anselm's Abbey) and senior Kevin Johnson (Maple Heights/ St. Ignatius) placed second and set a BW school-record with a time of 1:30.18. Johnson also placed first in the 60-meter dash in 6.91 seconds, which is a new OAC record, and was fourth in the 200-meter dash and set a school-record with a 22.35-second timing in the finals.    

In addition, sophomore Tyler Burdorff (Painesville/ Riverside) placed third in the weight throw on Friday with a toss of 57'9" and finished fifth in the shot put with a throw of 50'0.5".

The Yellow Jacket track and field teams are back in action on the weekend of March 14-15 when indoor qualifiers will compete at the 2014 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championship Meet at Nebraska Wesleyan University.

In addition, the outdoor track and field season begins on March 14-15 at the Coastal Carolina (S.C.) University Invitational Meet.
