DELAWARE, Ohio – Several members of the Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Ron Althoff Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.   This was the one of several last chance meets for the Yellow Jacket athletes to improve on their NCAA marks or to qualify for the NCAA National Meet.

The BW men were led by Ohio Athletic Conference Sprinter of the Year Kevin Johnson (Maple Heights/St. Ignatius) as he improved his time as he won the 100-meter in a time of 10.45.  With his winning time, Johnson currently holds the fourth fastest time in the NCAA.  Sophomore sprinter Ben Beidleman (Washington, D.C./St. Anselm's Abbey) also improved his season-best in the 100-meter  as he ran a 10.72 in preliminaries, then finished fourth in the finals with a time of 10.75.  Johnson and Ben Beidleman also placed second and third, respectively, in the 200-meter dash.  Johnson recorded a time of 21.33 and Beidleman was right on his heels at 21.57.

In field events, sophomore Tyler Burdorff (Painesville/Riverside) was fourth in both the discus and hammer throw.  In the discus, Burdorff threw a distance of 152 feet and 10.5 inches in the discus and 186' 4" inches in the hammer throw.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action this Friday, May 16 when they travel to Naperville, Illinois to compete in the Gregory Invitational hosted by North Central College.   The NCAA Division III Championships are on May 22-24 at Ohio Wesleyan.
