BALDWIN WALLACE ATHLETICS INFORMATION:  Kevin Johnson is one of the best football and track and field athletes ever to compete at Baldwin Wallace University (2010-2014).

2013-2014 OUTSTANDING SENIOR MALE ATHLETE:    Kevin Johnson was the 2013-2014 Kenneth Steingass Baldwin Wallace University Senior Male Athlete of the Year. 

NATIONAL TITLES:   As a senior in 2013-2014, Kevin won national titles outdoors in the 100 and 200-meter dashes at the 2014 NCAA Division III National Championship Meet at Ohio Wesleyan. He won the 100-meter dash in 10.50 seconds and the 200-meter title in a career-best 20.98 seconds.

TRACK HONORS:  As a senior in 2014-2015, Kevin earned All-American honors three times. He won national titles (see above) in the 100 and 200-meter dashes and placed eighth indoors in 60-meter dash  He earned OAC Track Athlete of the Week honors on April 21, 2014. Kevin was named as the 2014 OAC Outdoor Championship Meet Sprinter of the Year, the USTFCCCA Division III Great Lakes Region Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year and the USTFCCCA Division III Male Athlete of the Year.

TRACK RECORDS:   KJ also holds three BW indoor track records and three outdoor records.  Indoors, he owns marks in the 55-meter dash (6.31 seconds), 60 meter dash (6.89 seconds) and the 200 meter dash (22.40 seconds).  Outdoors, he owns marks in the 100-meter dash (10.45 seconds), 200-meter dash (20.90 seconds) and as a member of the 4x100-meter relay team (40.61 seconds). 

FOOTBALL HONORS:   As a freshman in 2010-2011, Kevin was selected as the Frank Roppolo Homecoming Player of the Game and earned Ohio Athletic Conference Football Special Teams Player of the Week.  As a junior in 2012-2013, Kevin was named as the OAC and the OhioCollegeFootball.com Special Teams Football Player of the Week on Sept. 10.

GENERAL FOOTBALL INFORMATION:   Kevin Johnson had an outstanding four-year football career. The wide receiver, cornerback on defense and kick return specialist earned four varsity letters and helped the Yellow Jackets compile a 28-12 record. Offensively, KJ caught 37 passes for 662 yards and nine touchdowns. Defensively, he made 57 career tackles, broke up 15 passes and intercepted a pass. On special teams, he returned 57 kickoffs for a 24.5-yard average and two TDs.

As a freshman in 2010-2011, Kevin played his first season of football and earned his first varsity letter. He saw playing time on defense at cornerback, at wide receiver on offense and as one of the most deadly kickoff return specialists in NCAA Division III football. In a 35-34 Homecoming win versus Otterbein University, K.J. returned three kickoffs for 135 yards to establish a Finnie Stadium record, including a 94-yard return for a touchdown that tied another Finnie Stadium record. For his efforts, he was selected as the Frank Roppolo Homecoming Player of the Game.  Kevin was also selected as the Ohio Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week. For the season, K.J. had two receptions for 106 yards and two TDs on offense, made 15 tackles on defense and returned 20 kickoffs for an OAC-leading 28.7-yard average which also ranked fourth in Division III. BW finished 7-3 overall.

As a sophomore in 2011-2012, Kevin competed in his second season of football and earned his second letter. On offense, he had four receptions for 144 yards with two touchdowns. On defense, Kevin made 18 tackles, intercepted one pass and broke up five others. On kickoff returns, he returned 12 for an average of 22.4 yards. BW finished 8-2 overall and was ranked No. 24 in the final Division III poll. 

As a junior in 2012-2013, Kevin competed in his third season of football and will look to earn his third varsity letter. Kevin was named as the OAC and OhioCollegeFootball.com Special Teams Player of the Week on Sept. 10 for his efforts against Bluffton University. On offense, he had six receptions for 62 yards with one touchdown. On defense, Kevin made 24 total tackles, recovered one fumble and broke up six passes. On kickoff returns, he returned 12 for an average of 26.4 yards with one touchdown. He helped BW finish with a 7-3 overall record.

As a senior in 2013, Kevin played in his fourth season of football for BW. Kevin played in all ten games for the Yellow Jackets and recorded 25 receptions for 350 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also added one rushing touchdown and 13 kick returns for 267 yards. Kevin earned his fourth varsity letter and helped BW finish with a 6-4 overall record.

GENERAL TRACK INFORMATION:  Kevin Johnson was one of the most gifted track and field sprinters to ever grace The George Finnie Stadium track. He earned four varsity letters and won a pair of NCAA Division III national titles (see above). He will be regarded as one of the best sprinters all-time.

INDOOR TRACK INFORMATION:  As a freshman in 2010-2011, Kevin competed in his first season of indoor track and field.  He had a team-best and personal-best time of 6.57 seconds at the 2011 OAC Indoor Track and Field Championship in the 55-meter dash and a season-best time of 24.34 seconds in the 200-meter dash.  KJ also competed on the 4x200 relay and posted a season-best time of 1:32.70 at the 2011 Cleveland College Championship.

As a sophomore in 2011-2012, KJ competed in his second season of indoor track. He posted season-best times of 6.64 seconds in the 55-meter at the 2012 B-W Mid-January Meet, 7.07 seconds in the 60-meter dash at the All-Ohio Meet and a 24.62 second finish in the 200-meter dash at the 2012 OAC North Split Meet.  Kevin was an important part of the 4x200 relay that set a season best time of 1:31.54 that placed first at the Wooster Fighting Scot Invitational. 

As a junior in 2012-2013, Kevin competed in his third season of indoor track.  He recorded the team-best 60- and 200-meter dashes of the season with marks of 6.90 seconds at the All-Ohio Division III Track & Field Championship and 22.72 seconds at the Greater Cleveland College Championship, respectively.  With his efforts in the 60-meter dash at the All-Ohio Track & Field Championship, Kevin was the All-Ohio champion. He was also on BW's best 4x200-meter relay team this season, which recorded their best time of 1:31.26.  Kevin's 4x400-meter relay team finished with their season-best time of 3:31.52.

As a senior in 2013-2014, Kevin ran his fourth season of indoor track. He set school records in the 55, 60 and 200-meter dashes school record in the 200-meter dash when he ran a time of 22.40 seconds. At the All-Ohio Championship Meet, placed second in the 60-meter dash and led the 4x200 relay team to a title. At the 2014 OAC Indoor Championship Meet, he placed first in the 60-meter dash and fourth in the 200. He also helped the 4x200-meter relay team to a second place finish. Kevin earned NCAA Division III All-American honors by finishing eighth in the 60-meter dash at the Division III National Championship Meet.

OUTDOOR TRACK INFORMATION:   As a freshman in 2011-2012, KJ competed in his first season of outdoor track and field and earned his first varsity letter.  He established season-best times in the 100-meter dash of 11.18 seconds at the UNC Charlotte (NC) 49er Classic and in the 200-meter dash at 23.25 seconds at the Coastal Carolina (SC) University Invitational.

As a sophomore in 2011-2012, KJ competed in his second season of outdoor track and earned his second letter.  He recorded season-bests in the 100-meter of 10.93 seconds at the All-Ohio Meet and 22.50 seconds in the 200-meter dash. BW finished second at the 2012 OAC Outdoor Track Championships.

As a junior in 2012-2013, Kevin competed in his third season of track and field and earned his third letter. He recorded personal-bests in the 100 meters (10.75) at the All-Ohio Meet and 200 meters (22.09)  at the Charlotte 49er Meet. He was the All-Ohio champion in the 100 meters. 

As a senior in 2013-2014, Kevin competed in his fourth season of outdoor track and earned his fourth letter. He was named as the OAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week on April 21 for his efforts at the "Sparky" Adams Invitational Meet. At the 2014 All-Ohio Championship Meet, Kevin won the 100 and 200-meter dashes and ran on the winning 4x100-meter relay team. At the 2014 OAC Outdoor Championship Meet, he won the 100 and 200-meter dashes and ran on the winning 4 x100-meter relay team and was named as the OAC's Sprinter of the Year.  He also was named as the USTFCCCA Great Lakes Region Sprinter of the Year. At the 2014 NCAA Division III National Championship Meet, Kevin won the 100 and 200-meter dash titles and earned All-Ameruca honors in each event. He ended the season undefeated against Division III opponents in the 100 meters. Kevin also qualified for the national meet as a member of the 4x100 relay team (ninth at national meet). That relay team entered the NCAA meet with the best time in Division III (a school-record 40.61 seconds). Kevin ended his career by being named as the USTFCCCA Division III Male Athlete of the Ye

HOMETOWN & HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATION:  Kevin grew up in Maple Heights, Ohio and graduated from St. Ignatius  High School in Cleveland, Ohio. He played four years of football and earned three varsity letters. Kevin also ran track for four seasons and earned four varsity letters.

In football, Kevin was a member of St. Ignatius' 2008 OHSAA Division I State Championship team. In track, Kevin was a state qualifer on the St. Ignatius 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relay teams.
