Men's Track Finishes Fifth at Marv Frye Invitational

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team placed fifth of 10 teams with 74.5 points at the annual Marv Frye Invitational Meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University at Selby Field. 

BW was led by the 4x100-meter relay team of senior All-American Kevin Johnson (Maple Heights/ St. Ignatius), sophomore Ben Beidleman (Washington, D.C. /St. Anselm's Abbey) and freshmen Troy Robinson (Akron/Garfield) and Otis Conel (Ashtabula/Lakeside) who placed first in a time of 42.06 seconds. In addition, Johnson placed second in the 200-meter dash in 21.89 seconds and Beidleman placed second in the 400-meter dash in 49.55 seconds. 

In the field events, freshman Dakota Spangler-Smith (Port Clinton) placed third in the shot put with a throw of 47' 00.75", eighth in the discus at 125'7" and eighth in the hammer at 134'0".  Sophomore Tyler Burdorff (Painesville/ Riverside) was sixth in the shot put (45'4.5"), third in the discus (141'2") and fifth in the hammer (147'8").

Next Saturday, April 12, BW returns to Delaware, Ohio to compete in the annual All-Ohio Division III Championship Meet at Ohio Wesleyan University at Sleby Field. Field events begin at 11:00 a.m.
