Winters Named OAC Women's Field Performer of the Week

BEREA, OHIO -- Freshman multi-event standout Melanie Winters (Stow/ Stow-Munroe Falls) has been named Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Field Performer-of-the-Week today (Monday, April 15, 2013) for her efforts during the Week of April 8-14.

Winters won one event and placed second in a two others as the Yellow Jacket women placed third of 20 teams at the annual Division III All-Ohio Championship Meet at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware last Saturday.

Winters won the long jump with a career-best leap of 18-feet and 10.5-inches, placed second in the 200-meter dash in 26.01 seconds and led off on the second place 4x100-meter relay team that crossed the finish line in 49.14 seconds.

Winters and the BW men's and women's track teams are back in action next Friday and Saturday, April 19-20 when they host the annual Paul "Sparky" Adams Meet at The George Finnie Stadium in Berea. On Friday, the hammer will be contested at 2:30 p.m. All other events will be contested on Saturday. Field events begin on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
