BW Women's Track Completes First Day of 49er Classic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Freshman Melanie Winters (Stow) won the heptathlon Kristin Whitlatch (Canton/ St. Thomas Aquinas) also posted a top-10 finish as the Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field team competed in the first day of the University of North Carolina - Charlotte 49er Classic today (Friday, March 15, 2013) in Charlotte, N.C.  The meet was unscored.

Winters led the Yellow Jacket women by winning the heptathlon after tallying 4,567 points.  She won three individual events and placed ahead of six Division I student-athletes.

Whitlatch placed seventh in the discus with a heave of 91-2.00.

Freshman Marissa Hellisz (Parma/ Normandy) won her long jump flight and came in 19th overall with a leap of 16-6.00.

After competing in the second day of the 49er Classic, BW will return north and compete Saturday, March 30 at the Ohio Athletic Conference East Split Meet at Marietta College.
