DELAWARE, OHIO – The Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team finished second and the women were third today (Saturday, April 13, 2013) at the annual Division III All-Ohio Championship Meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University at OWU's George Gauthier Track inside Selby Stadium. This was the fifth overall and third scoring meet of the spring for the Yellow Jackets.
The Yellow Jacket men scored 75 points to place second of 20 teams. The BW women scored 65 points to place third of 20 teams.
For the women, freshman Melanie Winters (Stow/ Munroe Falls) led the way for the Yellow Jackets finishing first in long jump with a personal best 18'10.5" and placing second in the 200-meter run in 26.01.
Senior All-OAC sprinter Kaylan Lemon (Canton/ Massillon Perry) finished second in the women's 100-meter race with a time of 12.53, while junior Brooke Hradisky (Aurora) also finished second in the 800-meter run with a personal best time of 2:20.48.
In addition for the women, the 4 x 100 team of Winters, Lemon, junior Sheuquella Greeno (Lima) and senior Lauren Nanni (Parma/ Padua Franciscan) finished second with a team best time of 49.14. The women's 4 x 400 meter team of Hradisky, freshmen Samantha Lang (Akron/ Green) and Ashley Wakut (Seven Hills) and junior Nicole Smith (Geneva) placed second in 49.14. In the 10,000-meter run, senior Shaina Kovatch (Parma/ Valley Forge) finished third in 39:05.35.
BW is back in action next Friday and Saturday, April 19-20 when it hosts the annual Paul "Sparky" Adams Meet at The George Finnie Stadium in Berea. On Friday, the hammer will be contested at 2:30 p.m. Field events begin on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
