Winters Named OAC Women's Field Performer of the Week

BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin Wallace University freshman Melanie Winters (Stow/ Stow-Munroe Falls) was named Ohio Athletic Conference women's field performer of the week for her achievements at last weekend's UNC - Charlotte 49er Classic.

Winters won the heptathlon at the 49er Classic with 4,567 points, the second-highest mark in Division III.  She won three individual events and finished ahead of six NCAA Division I student-athletes.  She won the 100-meter hurdles in 15.09 seconds, the high jump with a leap of 5'4.25" and the 200-meter dash in 25.75 seconds.  Winters also placed second in the long jump at 17'9.75". Her 100-meter hurdles time is the best in Division III and her long jump ranks sixth.

The men's and women's track and field teams are idle until Saturday, March 30 when they travel to Marietta for the annual OAC East Split Squad Meet.
