BEREA, OHIO -- Two Baldwin-Wallace College competitors have qualified for the 2012 NCAA Division III National Championship Meet at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College in Claremont, California from May 24-26. Senior Leslie Purnell (Springfield/ Central Catholic) and and sophomores Cristina Perrine (Middleburg Heights/ Midpark) each qualified for NCAA Division III meet by finishing as one of the top 22 individuals in the nation. Purnell (2012 indoor) and Perrine (2011 outdoor) are all making their second trip
Purnell, who just missed being an All-American with a ninth place finish in the shot put (43'9") at this winter's NCAA Division III Indoor National Championship Meet, is ranked 17th in the shot put (43'8.5") and 20th in the discus (142'10").
Perrine, who placed 23rd in the discus at last year's Division III Outdoor Championship Meet and was ninth in the 35-pound weight throw at this year's Div. III Indoor Championship Meet, currently ranks fourth in the discus (150'11"). This season's best throw is three feet better than her best throw of a year ago.
