NEW ORLEANS, La. – Junior All-American high jumper Christian Pfeiffer (Amherst) of the Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team has been named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Great Lakes Region Men's Field Athlete of the Year.
Pfeiffer, nearing the conclusion of a record-breaking season, earns this remarkable honor after a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches at the conclusion of the regular season. He is one of 10 male student-athletes to earn this award among all regions of NCAA Division III.
This week, Pfeiffer makes his second career appearance to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He qualifies for the high jump with his qualifying height of 2.12 meters at the Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships. Pfeiffer's mark currently ties him for first in the nation, and he's been in the No. 1 spot for most of the season. At the OAC Outdoor Championships, he won the high jump for the second consecutive year, earning his fourth career All-OAC honor. Prior to the OACs, Pfeiffer's distance broke a 47 year-old BW outdoor record that was previously tied by three student-athletes. He comes into the NCAA Championships as the defending Division III Indoor High Jump Champion. Pfeiffer is also the recipient of the 2023-24 Clyde A. Lamb Award.
Pfeiffer is back in action on Friday, May 24 at 4:00 p.m. for the high jump at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Coastal Carolina (S.C.) University in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
