BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's track and field team was fourth at the annual Ohio Athletic Conference Split Squad/OAC East Meet at Don Drumm Stadium on the campus of Marietta College.  This is the third week of spring competition for the Yellow Jackets.

The BW men had 105 to finish fourth. The team would have done significantly better, but senior decathlete Steve Price (North Olmsted) did not accompany the team to Marietta. Instead the Price competed in a multi-event meet at Liberty (Va.) University and qualified for the 2010 NCAA Division III National Championship Meet that will be held at BW from May 27-29.  You can read more about Price's performance at http://www.bw.edu/athletics/otf/sched/atliberty2/ .

For the men, senior All-American shot putter Greg Patrick (Collins/ Western Reserve) and junior All-American discus specialist Kevin Phipps (Pataskala/ Watkins Memorial) led the way in the weight events as each reset a school-record in their specialty. Patrick won the shot put with a school-record throw of 55'0.75" to better his own previous best of 54'10" set two weeks ago at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. He also placed second in the hammer with a throw of 157'9" and was fourth in the discus. Phipps won the hammer and led a 1-2-3-4-5-6 finish by the Yellow Jackets with a school-record throw of 193'3" to reset the record by seven inches that he established last week at Cedarville. Phipps also placed second in the discus with a throw of 158'5" and was fifth in the shot put. In addition, senior Jimmy Eberts (North Canton/ Hoover) won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:59.14.

The Yellow Jacket track and field team next compete on Saturday, April 10 when they travel to Delaware, Ohio to compete at the annual Marv Frye Meet at Ohio Wesleyan University. Field events begin at 11:00 a.m.
