BW Junior Thrower Kevin Phipps Hits NCAA Automatic Qualifying Mark at Cedarville Invite

BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin Wallace University All-American junior thrower Kevin Phipps (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) competed as an individual at the Cedarville University Collegiate Open today (Saturday, March 27, 2010) and hit an NCAA automatic qualifying mark in the hammer throw.

Phipps won the hammer throw with a school-record mark of 192 feet, eight inches and is now automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships that will be hosted by Baldwin Wallace in late May. His hammer mark also ranks third in the nation in Division III. 

Most of the BW track and field team is back in action at the Ohio Athletic Conference Split Squad Meet on Saturday, April 3 at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio. Several Yellow Jacket multi-event athletes also will compete at the Liberty (Va.) Collegiate Invite in Lynchburg, Virginia on Friday and Saturday, April 2-3.

The 2010 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship Meet will be held on May 27-29 at The George Finnie Stadium in Berea. This is the fifth time that the College has hosted the NCAA Div.
