Baldwin Wallace Men's Indoor Track and Field Teams Open Season with Mid-January Meet

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's indoor track and field team opened their 2010 season today (Saturday, January 23) at the BW Mid-January Meet on the Harrison Dillard Track in the Lou Higgins Center.  The meet was not scored. Overall, BW earned a total of five first-place finishes.

Highlighting the meet for the men was All-Ohio Athletic Conference junior thrower Kevin Phipps(Reynoldsburg/Watkins Memorial) who won the weight throw with an NCAA-provisional qualifying mark of 57 feet, five and one half inches. Phipps' toss also broke his own school record of 56'6.50", which he set last year. Also in the throws for BW, senior All-OAC performer Greg Patrick (Collins/Western Reserve) won the shot put with a mark of 51'0.00". Patrick's 51'0.00" throw was also an NCAA provisional mark.

The BW track and field team will be back in action next Saturday, January 30, 2010 when they host the Ohio Athletic Conference Relays on the Harrison Dillard Track. The meet is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m.
