BW Men Third at OWU Marv Frye Meet in Delaware

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's track and field team were third of 15 teams competing at the annual Marv Frye Invitational Meet at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio on Saturday, April 10.  This is the fourth week of spring competition for the Yellow Jackets. 

The BW men had 79 points to finish third.

Individually for the Yellow Jacket men, junior Kevin Phipps (Pataskala/ Watkins Memorial) won both the discus with a throw of 160-feet and nine inches and the hammer with a throw of 190'4".  In addition, senior Greg Patrick (Collins/ Western Reserve) won the shot put with a throw of 53'7.5."

The Yellow Jackets next compete on Saturday, April 17 when they travel to Delaware, Ohio to compete at the annual All-Ohio Championship Meet. Field events begin at 11:00 a.m.

Media and fans are reminded that Baldwin Wallace University will host the 2010 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Track and Field Championship Meet in The George Finnie Stadium in Berea, Ohio from May 27-29. For more information, visit http://www.bw.edu/athletics/10tracknationals/..

To date, four Yellow Jackets are qualified either automatically or provisionally for the 2010 NCAA Championship Meet.  They are Phipps in the discus and hammer, Patrick in the shot put, freshman Mitch Supan (Medina/ Walsh Jesuit) in the discus, and senior Steve Price (North Olmsted) in the decathlon/
