Men's Tennis Sweeps Westminster (Pa.)

BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team secured a 9-0 sweep of Westminster (Pa.) College on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts. 

BW (10-1) won the first doubles match with the tandem of senior two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference and two-time Academic All-OAC Dominic Polifrone (Hudson) and senior two-time Academic All-OAC and All-OAC Matt Harris (Akron/Revere), as they sealed a 8-0 victory. Senior Academic All-OAC Roger Boyer (Medina/Brunswick) and junior Jake Elbin (Findlay) took the second doubles with a score of 8-4. The duo of freshman Edwin Schartman (Westlake) and senior Ben Binion (Shelby) won third doubles with a score of 8-5. 

Polifrone won the first singles after a retirement from his opponent in the seond set. Harris grabbed the second doubles with scores of 6-3 and 6-0. Third doubles were seized by Elbin with scores of 6-0 and 6-2. Benotti swept his opponent, 6-0 for the fourth singles match, as Boyer secured the fifth singles with scores of 6-0 and 6-1. Freshman Miles Collins (Aliquippa/Hopewell) was the final BW victor as his match went to a tie-breaker set, that he won 12-10. 

BW will be back in action on Wednesday, April 3 for an OAC matchup at John Carroll University at 3:30 p.m.
