Men's Tennis Sweeps Senior's Day Match With Heidelberg

BEREA, Ohio- The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team secured a 9-0 sweep over Heidelberg University on Senior's Day in their last regular season Ohio Athletic Conference home match on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts.

BW (14-3) has now won four straight matches, including three straight 9-0 sweeps. The pairing of senior two-time Academic All-OAC and All-OAC Matt Harris (Akron/Revere) and senior three-time All-OAC and two-time Academic All-OAC Dominic Polifrone (Hudson) won first doubles 8-4. In second doubles, the duo of senior Academic All-OAC Roger Boyer (Medina/Brunswick) and junior Jake Elbin (Findlay) registered an 8-3 victory. Senior Ben Binion (Shelby) and sophomore Michael Benotti (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) rounded out doubles action for the Yellow Jackets with a convincing 8-1 win.

Polifrone got BW started in singles play with a 6-0, 6-1 victory in number one singles. Harris followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win in the second singles match. Elbin and his opponent battled throughout the third singles, with the junior ultimately walking away with a 6-1, 7-6 with a 7-4 score in the tie-breaking set. Benotti won fourth singles with a line of 6-0,6-1. In fifth singles, Boyer picked up a straight sweep of his opponent with consecutive 6-0 scores. Rounding out the finishers for the Yellow Jackets was freshman Miles Collins (Aliquippa/Hopwell), who secured the sixth spot with a line of 6-0, 6-3.

The Yellow Jackets will continue OAC play on Wednesday, April 24 when they take on the University of Mount Union on the Whitehill Tennis Courts at 3:30 p.m.
