Men's Tennis Sweeps Defiance

HILTON HEAD, S. C. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team swept Defiance College by a score of 9-0 on the courts of Palmetto Dunes. 

BW (7-1) secured the first singles match with the tandem of senior two-time All-OAC and two-time Academic All-OAC Dominic Polifrone (Hudson) and senior two-time Academic All-OAC and All-OAC Matt Harris (Akron/Revere), as they won 8-0.  Junior Jake Elbin (Findlay) and senior Academic All-OAC Roger Boyer (Medina/Brunswick) seized the second doubles with a score of 8-1.

Polifrone lead off singles with back-to-back 6-0 and Harris followed with scores of 7-6 and 6-1. Elbin grabbed the third singles victory with 6-1 scores and sophomore Michael Benotti (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) won the fourth singles with 6-0 scores. Boyer was the fifth singles victor with consecutive 6-0 scores and freshman Miles Collins (Aliquippa/Hopewell) won by default for the sixth singles.

BW hits the courts next on Thursday, March 7 for a match with the Roanoke (Va.) College at 8:30 a.m.
