Men's Tennis Sweeps Mount Vernon Nazarene

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team played Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Wednesday and came away undefeated, 9-0.

The team of senior three-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC Dominic Polifrone (Hudson) and senior All-OAC and two-time Academic All-OAC Matt Harris combined for an 8-6 victory for the first match of doubles. Junior Jake Elbin (Findlay) and senior Academic All-OAC Roger Boyer (Medina/Brunswick) paired for an 8-0 victory in the second doubles match. The third doubles included the tandem of sophomore Michael Benotti (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) and freshman Edwin Schartman (Westlake), who won 8-2.

Earning singles victories was Polifrone, Harris, Elbin, Boyer, Benotti, and freshman Miles Collins (Aliquippa/Howell).

BW (2-0) will close out the fall portion of the schedule when they compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Region Championships, hosted by Washington University-St. Louis, at the Tao Tennis Center in St. Louis Missouri over the weekend.
