Yellow Jacket Men's Soccer Team Gets First Win with a 3-0 Victory over Oberlin

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's soccer team picked up its first win of 2009 with a 3-0 victory over visiting Oberlin College this evening (Wednesday, September 16, 2009) on Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium in Berea. 

With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 1-5 overall while Oberlin suffers its first loss to fall to 3-1-1.

B-W sophomore Carlin Vandendriessche (Medina/ Senior) scored on a header in the game's 18th minute following a pass from senior Jeff Bonezzi (Medina/ Senior). Vandendriessche struck again at 33:51 of the first half off a pass from sophomore Noah Eubanks (West Bloomfield, Mich./ West Bloomfield) to put the Jackets up by two. An own goal in the game's 75th minute gave the Jackets a 3-0 victory.

In goal, senior Russ Mika (Medina/ Senior) made five saves to earn the shutout. Oberlin's Zach Lipshultz recorded nine stops for the Yeomen.

B-W outshot Oberlin 16-6 while each team attempted three corner kicks.   

The Yellow Jackets are back in action this Saturday, September 19 at Grove City (Pa.) College in the first game of a men's and women's doubleheader at 1:00 p.m.
