BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's soccer team defeated visiting St. Vincent (Pa.) College 3-0 this evening (Tuesday, September 29, 2009) on Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium in Berea .

With the win, the Yellow Jackets are now 5-5-0 overall and are on a five game win streak entering conference play this Saturday when they travel to Alliance to play Mount Union College at 12:00 noon. St. Vincent drops to 3-8-1 for the season.

After several early chances, B-W opened the scoring at the 32:47 mark when freshman midfielder Pat Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) slammed home a full volley for his second goal of the season off a cross from senior midfielder Jeff Bonezzi (Medina/Senior). The Jackets maintained the 1-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Yellow Jackets extended their lead to 2-0 when sophomore All-OAC forward Carlin Vandendriessche (Medina/Senior) scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season off a pass from junior midfielder Jeff Grater (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) in the 49th minute. Then, junior defender Andrew Kelley (Westerville/Columbus St. Francis DeSales) scored his first collegiate goal unassisted in the 59^th minute to make the score 3-0.

In goal, senior Russ Mika (Medina/Senior) played 78 minutes and made one save as he improved to 5-4 on the year. Freshman Ryan Hulings (Centerville) played the last 12 minutes and preserved the B-W shutout.

The Yellow Jackets outshot the Bearcats, 22-5 and won the corner kick battle 6-3.

Following Saturday's game at Mount Union, B-W's next game is a home contest versus OAC foe Heidelberg University on Tuesday October 6, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. on Tressel Field.
