Two Football Student-Athletes Garner OAC Weekly Accolades

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University junior place kicker Jimmy Marshall (Lakewood) and senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference defensive back Ty Fields (St. Augustine, Fla.) and have been selected as the OAC Special Teams and Defensive Players of the Week. 

Marshall earn his first weekly accolade after kicking the game-winning and career-long 42-yard field goal as time expired in last Saturday's thrilling come from behind 30-28 victory at Marietta College.  Fields garners his first weekly honor after recording a career-high 16 tackles and one pass breakup in the victory.

This season, Marshall leads the Yellow Jackets in scoring with 51 points as he has connected on five of six fields goals and 36 of 39 extra points.

For his career, Marshall has appeared in 26 games and has converted six of eight field goals and 38 of 41 extra points.  He began his career as the kickoff specialist as a freshman.

This season, Fields leads the BW defense with 47 tackles and is second on the squad with eight pass breakups.  He has two tackled for a loss.

For his career, Fields has appeared in 27 games and has recorded 110 tackles, 24 pass breakups, three tackles for a loss, one fumble recovery and one quarterback hurry.  He was an All-OAC second-team selection in 2017 after leading the league with a career-high 13 pass breakups.

The Yellow Jackets close out the home portion of their regular season next Saturday, November 3 when it hosts an OAC game against Ohio Northern University on Seniors' and Parents' Day and the 30th Anniversary of the 1988 OAC Championship at 1:30 p.m.  BW plays its regular season finale on Saturday, November 10 when it travels to University Heights for an OAC game against crosstown rival and No. 10-nationally ranked John Carroll University in the 30th Battle for Cuyahoga Gold Bowl Trophy on Wasmer Field at 1:30 p.m.
