BEREA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC wide receiver Rob Wolfington (Rapids City, Mich./Elk Rapids) was recognized as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Award winner at the annual 2019 Northeast Ohio NFF Banquet on Tuesday night.

"I am extremely blessed to receive this scholarship," Wolfington said. "Without my support system, my family or the Baldwin Wallace football staff, I wouldn't be in the position for success that I am in right now. I'm excited for my future, and with the knowledge and characteristics that football, my family and my coaches have taught me, I know I'll be successful."

The National Football Foundation established the Scholar-Athlete Award to recognize the athletic, academic and leadership abilities of student-athletes.

An exercise science major who carries a 3.67 GPA, Wolfington was a two-year starter who recorded 83 receptions for 1,425 yards and 11 touchdowns in his career. He was a two-time All-OAC honoree, an Academic All-OAC selection and a team captain. As a senior, he led the team with his career-best 49 receptions and 783 receiving yards to finish third and seventh in the conference, respectively. Additionally, Wolfington handled the punting duties and finished fourth in the OAC with his 35.2 yards-per-punt average.

During his four-year career, BW compiled a record of 24-16, including a mark of 14-6 under head coach Jim Hilvert. Twice, Wolfington received BW's Outstanding Receiver Award at the team banquet. He was named the Dick Miller Community & Family Day Player of the Game in 2017 against John Carroll University and also competed in the 2018 Gateway All American Bowl in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

"Rob is the kind of guy that gets the job done both on and off the field," Hilvert said. "He exemplifies what being a Yellow Jacket is all about."

Off the field, Wolfington is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.
