Fifteen Football Student-Athletes Named to Academic All-OAC Team

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Fifteen Baldwin Wallace University football student-athletes have been named to the 2018 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

In order to be selected to the Academic All-OAC team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

Senior linebacker/long snapper Dane Eberle (Erie, Pa./McDowell), senior wide receiver Ty Ramsier (Rittman), senior linebacker Zach Poudrier (Penfield, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit), senior linebacker Andrew Groves (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls), junior defensive lineman Ajha Dean-Phillips (Bedford Heights/Bedford), junior placekicker Jimmy Marshall (Lakewood), junior quarterback A.J. Miller (Coral Springs, Fla./Coral Springs Charter), sophomore offensive lineman Jacob Liberati (Lisbon/David Anderson), junior offensive lineman Ryan Sympson (North Lima/South Range), junior tight end Pat Orsini (East Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville East), junior defensive back Kyle Kelly (Wadsworth/St. Vincent-St. Mary), sophomore linebacker Ellis Moye (San Francisco, Calif./Lincoln)sophomore running back Q'darr Robinson (Westlake), , sophomore offensive lineman Patrick Simon (Olmsted Falls) and sophomore defensive back Spencer Haywood (Hudson) are 15 of the 55 Yellow Jacket student-athletes to be recognized this fall.

Eberle, who earns his third consecutive Academic All-OAC honor, is an athletic training and pre-physical therapy double major who carries a 3.52 GPA. Academically, he is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. For his career, Eberle appeared in 26 games and recorded 20 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and forced one fumble.

Ramsier, who garners his first career Academic All-OAC accolade, is a sport management major who carries a 3.55 GPA. He is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar, a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society, a member of the Sport Management Club and a student assistant in the Office of Athletic Communications. In his career, Ramsier appeared in 18 games and made 18 receptions for 234 yards and one touchdown.

Poudrier, who is named to his second straight Academic All-OAC team, is a sport management major who carries a 3.70 GPA. Academically, he is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar, a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society and a member of the Sport Management Club. Poudrier appeared in 23 games in his career and recorded 73 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. 

Groves, who earns his third consecutive Academic All-OAC honor, is an accounting and finance double major who carries a 3.73 GPA. He is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of both the Alpha Lambda Delta and Chi Alpha Sigma honor societies. For his career, Groves appeared in 28 games and recorded 70 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception and four pass breakups.

Dean-Phillips, who garners his second straight Academic All-OAC accolade, is a digital media and graphic design major who carries a 3.53 GPA. A Dean's List student, Dean-Phillips has appeared in eight games in his career and recorded nine tackles, one tackle for loss and 0.5 sacks.

Marshall, who is named to his first Academic All-OAC team, is a business administration major who carries a 3.63 GPA. He is a Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar. For his career, Marshall has appeared in 28 games and has made six field goals and 49 extra points for 67 career points.

A.J. Miller, who was named to his second Academic All-OAC team, is an international studies major that carries a 3.90 grade point average. He appeared in his first collegiate game vs. Mount Union on September 15 but did not attempt a pass.

Liberati, who earns his first career Academic All-OAC honor, is a finance major who carries a 3.52 GPA. Academically, he is a Dean's List student. In his career, Liberati has appeared in two games and recorded one tackle.

Sympson, who garners his second consecutive Academic All-OAC accolade, is a biology major who carries a 3.86 GPA. A Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar, he was selected to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District 7 team. In his career, Sympson has appeared in 16 games on the offensive line. 

Orsini, who is named to his second Academic All-OAC team, is a pre-physical therapy major who carries a 3.97 GPA. He is a Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar. Orsini has appeared in 17 games in his career and has made six receptions for 80 yards and two touchdowns.

Kelly, who earns his second straight Academic All-OAC honor, is a pre-physical therapy major who carries a perfect 4.0 GPA. Academically, he is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta and Chi Alpha Sigma honor societies. Kelly received the 2017 BW Academic Excellence Award for having the highest GPA on the football team and has also been named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District 7 team. For his career, he has appeared in 21 games and has recorded 75 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and five pass breakups. 

Moye, who is named to his first Academic All-OAC team, is a communication studies major who carries a 3.56 GPA. A Dean's List student, Moye has appeared in eight games in his career and made three tackles. 

Robinson, who garners his first career Academic All-OAC accolade, is an exercise science and health coaching and promotion double major who carries a 3.54 GPA. In his career, Robinson has appeared in 10 games and carried the ball 21 times for 91 yards. 

Simon, who earns his first Academic All-OAC honor, is an economics major who carries a 3.68 GPA. He is a Dean's List student and also competes on the BW wrestling team. For his career, Simon has appeared in all 20 games on the offensive line.

Haywood, who garners his first Academic All-OAC accolade, is a history major who carries a 3.75 GPA. A Dean's List student, Haywood has appeared in two games in his career and made one tackle.
